SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2024) – Gunner’s Mate 1st Class DeAngela Smith has built a reputation as a dedicated leader and mentor in the U.S. Navy. Since beginning her Navy journey aboard the USS Pinckney (DDG 91), where she advanced from E-3 to E-6 within four years, Smith now brings her expertise to the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) San Diego. As an instructor, she teaches Sailors the operation and maintenance of the Mk 45 MOD 2 Gun Weapons System, providing hands-on training essential to fleet readiness.
